The legacy of Modern Inn
Two brothers from a small village near Koduvayur called Villay Anur, were working in them uncle’s restaurant at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu for years, but due to some misunderstanding with their uncle, the elder brother Viswanathan left the job, and his younger brother Raman also left the job, following his elder brother without any alternate job, and when they were back at them native village without any idea as to what to do next, their grandmother blessed them saying you were five brothers like the Pandavas and start your own restaurant.
With her blessings the two were back in Pollachi to start a restaurant named Modern Cafe with their second brother-in-law joining their venture. Growing with the business, they moved their family and three younger brothers Mani (Subramaniam), Krishnan and Hari (Parasuraman) started a branch at katchery street, opposite the government taluk office and courts on the main kovai road buying the restaurant from their another uncle, no looking back, the awesome five men army flourished and being at boarding business, thought of adding lodging house pleasantly called Modern.
Lodge and had their first lodging house at bazaar street behind their bazaar modern cafe with 18 rooms. Having tasted the flourishing new venture at a place, which is boosting the biggest weekly market in South India and businessmen around Tamil Nadu and Kerala frequenting, they sensed a good opportunity to grow with boarding and lodging business and ventured into building another 27 rooms double storied building named MODERN LODGE near them katchery street cafe. In 1960 they conceived a dream building.
It was a very sought after place in the busy market taluk called Pollachi, ideally located near Coimbatore and Palakkad as well as tea estates filled Valparai, also the famous Anaimalai and tiger reserve forest called Topslip,the famous dam culture called Parambikulam Aliyar project, fondly called PAP project. With its coconut groves and agriculturally flourishing Pollachi taluk, the demand for rooms for traders increased and Pollachi is so famous for filmi locations (the famous movies Malaikalan, MGR casting, Pagaprivinai SIVAJI casting have succeeded in box office,) nearby and lucky place for cine producers, even cine world demanded more rooms and no looking back in this line, they added another 70 room lodge nearby called SEETHARAM LODGE
V.R.RAMAIYER became a famous hoteliers in Pollachi .As every venture end in dissolution, the brothers parted their Connections with partitioning the property among them and this Modern Lodge at maranaickar street came under the control of V.R.VISWANATHAN and was owned and run by him and his sons under the banner V.R.V.& SONS as a partnership venture, after the demise of their parents’ brothers partitioned the property among them and their sisters, the present management acquired all rights from the stakeholders and decided to modernize the so called 1960 Modern Lodge by upgrading the facilities in line with present day Lodging house demand of much elite customers of modern times with various facility from the year 2024
